Orientation Course for Catering Personnel (OCCP)

1. Course Overview

Duration: 1–6 months (depends on institute)
Goal: Prepares candidates for catering roles like General Steward or Saloon Rating
Training Includes:

  • Food & Beverage Service

  • Ship Housekeeping

  • Hygiene & Safety

  • Basic Firefighting & First Aid

  • Ship Familiarization


2. Eligibility Criteria

Education:

  • 10th/12th Pass with 40% overall & 40% in English

  • OR Hospitality/Diploma/Degree or 6-month Catering Certificate (NCHMC/AICTE/UGC recognized)
    Age: 18–25 years (at course start)
    Medical: Fit certificate from DG Shipping-approved doctor (as per MS Rule 2000)


3. Career Benefits

Roles: General Steward, Saloon Rating
